About Us

Rachel Barber

Barn Manager, Extraordinaire

I can’t remember a time in my life I wasn’t passionate about horses.  Not just riding, but all things horse.  I grew up in a lesson barn and was teaching by the time I was 15.  My primary background is in hunter/jumpers, but I’ve been a groom and I’ve worked at the racetrack.  I was even an exercise rider (when I was about 120 pounds lol).  When I lived in Japan, I joined a club and rode there.  We used ride down to the beach and swim with the horses in the East China Sea.  Anywhere I’ve gone and anyone I’ve ever worked for or with, I’ve always made a point to learn.  I’m still learning.  The worst thing you can do as a horsewoman is think you know everything, because you don’t.  Even the most knowledgeable person has much to learn.  I am a stickler for good horsemanship.  You have to be just as good on the ground as you are in the saddle, if not better.

My goal for TopLine is quality, individualized care for each horse on the farm.  I want to meet not just their basic needs, but to really understand each horse and what they need.
